BE THE PEACE-BE THE HOPE

The Be The Peace - Be the Hope Cycle and phases

Be the Peace – Be the Hope is going through a cycle.

You will find below  the different phases of the program:

Phase 1 - Inform Youth/schools/libraries/etc.. in the US about the situation of children in refugee camps outside the U.S.  + create standard-size art pieces with messages of Hope and encouragement to deliver to children in the camps.
Objectives: Encourage local to global citizenship, raise awareness, enhance values and encourage identity development, activate compassionate forces, create cultural and geographical bridges, increase social connectedness.

Phase 2 - Visit refugee camps outside the US (Africa, Middle East, Asia,…) and implement a 5-7 day educational and healing arts program to help children process their trauma and project themselves into a more positive future + train the teachers + create an art installation combining art pieces of Houston Youth and art pieces of the refugee children to create a daily  representation of Hope.
Objectives: Build resilience, encourage self-efficacy, creativity and social and emotional growth, create small change in a highly sensitive and dynamic system for a more significant outcome, increase of positive actions.

Phase 3 - Share the results of the program through exhibitions/conferences/installations in libraries/schools/neighborhood associations/City Hall  encouraging bridges from local to global and  global to local and raising awareness to the program with the Houston community.

Phase 4 - Implement  7 to 9 week workshops in schools/classrooms/neighborhood centers across the Houston region replicating the educational healing arts program delivered in the refugee camps this time for Houston Youth (including resettled immigrants  and refugee Youth) to help children process their trauma and project themselves into a more positive future.
Objectives: Build resilience, encourage self-efficacy, creativity and social and emotional growth, create small change in a highly sensitive and dynamic system for a more significant outcome, increase of positive actions.

Phase 5 - Implement the program Globally in At-Risk Areas

Encouraged by the success of the program as indicated by our pre and post workshop evaluations, we are inviting organizations to implement the program in their communities and connect the at-risk children to the global network through art.

Build Sustainability and Webinars
▪ This year, our objective is to launch an online mentoring platform with webinars which will be accessible globally and available in various languages.
• The webinars will provide step by step directions on how to implement the program in at-risk areas. These webinars will go over all of the workshops as well as tools used in the program.
•  In addition to this, the 'Expert Series' will feature experts from around the globe who are working towards children's education and empowerment.
• The 'Expert Series' along with the workshops will serve a resource hub for children and teachers.
